Wells Youth Baseball is having a Hit-a-Thon!!
What is a Hit-a-Thon? Ah, well as indicated by the venerable suffix “a-thon” this is a fundraiser. And because this is baseball, instead of jogging or other things that one “a-thons” with, we are going to hit baseballs! Each player will have the opportunity to hit 10 pitches at our event on June 5th (or at another time if your team has a tournament on June 5th).
Great! What are the funds being raised for? Wells Youth Baseball is growing and we need field space! We have three “Senior” 7th/8th-grade teams but for the first time this year, we also have a 9U team, an 11U team, and a 12U team. In order to have space for these new teams we need to improve the fields at Jackson Middle School to make them playable.
How are the funds being raised? We are using 99pledges to track funds and raise money. This is an awesome tool because each player has a link that can be shared with friends & family and one social media. You should have received an email (May 22nd) that has your individual page with link. Add a picture of your player and get ready to start sharing! If you didn’t get an email, please reply to this email and we will resend it.
How do people donate? Your supporters can either donate “per hit” or they can donate a fixed amount. Either way, you don’t have to track hits or collect any money – WYB will track the hits and the app will calculate if your donor chooses to support “per hit.” The key page is the “invite” page and the sharing link that came in the email from May 22nd (from Angela Corman). So start sending out the link and invitations to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. You also can simply share your player's link in social media, email or text. If you’d like, you can use the email and social media post that we’ve drafted and pasted below.
How much are we hoping to raise? Our goal is to raise $150 per player.
Is this tax deductible? Yes!
Is this a competition? Are there prizes? Yes! The team that collects the most donations will get DONUTS at practice. There are also individual prizes from Baseballism for the first, second, and third place individual fundraisers.
How do I donate to the league? I don't know any current players. You can donate here directly Wells Youth Baseball Hit-a-thon (99pledges.com)
Let’s raise some money!

Dear [Grandma/Aunt Suzy/Uncle Jim Bob/etc.],
My Wells Youth Baseball team is having a fundraiser this spring. We are having a “hit-a-thon” which is kind of like a “jog-a-thon” but instead of jogging laps, we’re hitting baseballs.
If you’re up for donating, you can either donate “per hit” or you can donate a fixed amount. We will have ten possible pitches to hit so if you want to donate “per hit,” please consider this.
We are raising money for field improvements and it is a competition between all six teams in the organization. There are donuts at stake!
Thank you for supporting me and my baseball team. You can donate here <<INSERT LINK>>
